Abstract
The paper presents results of the experimental study on a biofuel droplet ignition and combustion. The name 'biofuel' refers here to a mixture of unconverted rapeseed oil and fuel oil from petroleum. A special apparatus was built to conduct the investigation. On the basis of the measurements the ignition delay and the combustion time of a droplet were determined as a function of ambient temperature, fuel composition and droplet size. The experimental results show that the composition of biofuel has a fundamental impact on the ignition and the combustion of a droplet. The ambient temperature in the experimental cylinder and the droplet size have also an important influence on the considered processes.
