Abstract
This paper presents the findings of experimental investigations into the combustion of H2/NG and NH3/NG blends at a pilot scale of 75 kW, in conjunction with a pilot-scale CO2 absorption process. It has been demonstrated that the existing pilot-scale natural gas burner can effectively achieve stable combustion of NG/H2/NH3 blends containing up to 10 vol% each of H2 and NH3. The study found a clear and significant increase in NOx emissions (up to 3350 ppm) resulting from the addition of ammonia to the fuel mixture. The implementation of air staging has been shown to substantially reduce NOx emissions, with documented decreases ranging from 80% to 90% at 282 ppm.
