Abstract

This paper presents an investigation concerning influence of both Sympathetic (SNS) and Parasympathetic (PNS) Nervous Systems for Normogastric Rhythm extracted from Electrogastrogram (EGG), which can be considered as a gastric myoelectrical activity measured by several electrodes attached on the abdomen. The analysis has been performed using principal dynamic modes (PDM) decomposition method to make possible separate analysis of both mentioned influences. To make the analysis possible a special procedure for signal registration has been designed and some other signal processing tools applied for preprocessing as the EGG signal itself is usually associated with some inferences caused by other organs localized near stomach. The raw data registered is a sort of mixture from both electrical activity of stomach as well as mentioned other organs surrounding it. More, spectral characteristics of those organs overlap causing additional difficulties concerning inferences removal by common band pass filtration.
