Abstract
In recent years, many research centers have focused on hydrogen energy. Although not all opinions on its technical and economic potential are positive, many prepared forecasts and scenario show its perspective in many areas of the economy. The development of hydrogen technology involves research and analysis covering various technological areas, including hydrogen generation, transportation, storage and use in power and transport. Choosing the right strategy is key to further perceiving the opportunities for hydrogen technology. The paper presents an overview of the main problems of hydrogen production, and then addresses the issues of transport and storage. Lastly, the use of hydrogen in stationary power and in car transport was discussed. Attention was paid to research needed to be undertaken in the near future. Brief information about the state of research in Poland is presented.
