Abstract
The paramagnetic properties of low‐pressure‐baked (111) Si surfaces interacting with various absorbed gases are investigated by ESR spectroscopic method. Two kinds of surface paramagnetic centres responsible for two ESR lines are found. The ESR PB‐centres with g = 2.0055 appear on low‐pressure‐baked (111) Si surfaces and disappear in wet atmospheres. The intensity of the ESR PB‐line increases in O2 and H2. The ESR PA‐centres with anisotropic g‐factor (g ⊥ = 2.0015) appear in O2 but disappear in H2 and wet He. The mechanisms for the various behaviours of the two ESR centres are discussed in detail.
