Abstract
This paper presents the results from investigations on the effect of temperature and strain rate on the shape of the stress-strain curves, the peak flow stress and microstructure of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with carbon (0.7-0.8 wt%) that were axisymmetrically compressed on a thermo-mechanical simulator Gleeble 3800. Conditions under which the alloy deformation proceeded without cracking were determined. The obtained results were verified by industrial open die forging tests.
