Abstract
The concept of the just suspension power input is used to obtain an expression for the critical suspension condition necessary to keep particles just suspended in a liquid in vessels agitated by up-and-down moving (vibrating) mixers. Experimental just suspension data are reported and used to examine the applicability of the equation for calculating the just suspension velocity of vibrating impellers. Good agreement is found between the prediction and the experimental observations.
