Abstract

The paper presents results of studies aimed at determining the effective-ness of coking wastewater treatment in two integrated systems. In one system wastewater is treated using combined processes of ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. In the second system, to increase the efficiency of wastewater treat-ment, an additional step of treatment is introduced - initial volume coagulation. Low-pressure membrane filtration process was carried out on membrane made of polysulfone 16% by weight. The participation of film-forming polymer in solution and during the evaporation of the solvent from the membrane surface equal to 5 s. The introduction of coking wastewater pre-treatment by coagula-tion method resulted in the removal of such contaminants which are present mainly in the form of colloidal and macromolecular substances and thus provid-ed a more efficient membrane ultrafiltration in the next stage of purification. Treatment of wastewater after the filtration process was performed by low-pressure reversed osmosis on membrane of polyamide-type ADF's Osmonics. Basing on assumptions of relaxation model, describing the changes in permeate flux during membrane filtration system carried out in non-stationary system, attempt to determine the possibilities of predicting the size of ultrafiltration permeate fluxes was made.
