Abstract

All life on the earth exclusively rests on freshwater resources for their survival. In the ecosystem, the clean water is the destination of large number of pollutants. Inclusion of pollutants has changed the quality of freshwater, and the situation owing to water pollution is getting aggravated with progress of time, resulting in reduction of freshwater resources. In the near future, a state will be emerged in which the order arrangement of the freshwater ecosystem will be completely destroyed. There are numerous conventional methods that are available to treat the pollutants present in water bodies; but such techniques are inadequate to meet the demands owing to one or more reasons. Among those reasons, the efficiency of these methods is a major concern. This chapter deals with recently developed carbonaceous filler-based polymer composites engaged in the catalytic degradation of water pollution remediation. Besides, the chapter also discusses various aspects of catalytic degradation of water pollutants and the plausible mechanism behinds it. Finally, the chapter concluded with brief discussion about the futures perspectives of carbonaceous filler-based polymer composites in the treatment of water pollutants.
