Abstract
Inverse heat transfer problems encountered in thermal systems with change of phase are discussed in general. Emphasis is on an estimation of the boundary heat fluxes, and on determination of the phase change front location. These calculations are based on temperature measurements at interior locations. Advantages of using the Boundary Element Method for performing sensitivity analysis and solving inverse problems are pointed out. Also, the principal procedures of stabilizing results are critically compared.
