Biodegradation of anthracene oil in soil

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

In natural agricultural soil and in soil modified with wastewater sludge, the biodegradation of anthracene oil at 1 and 3% concentration was performed, with experiment lasting for 61 days. The mass decrement of anthracene oil introduced after 61 days was 53-75% depending on soil modification. The quantity of huminic acid increased in all modified systems. Physical and chemical analyses of soil included the following results: mass decrement of oil, C/N ratio, environment reaction (pH), content of humus, huminic acids, sum of bases, and hydrolytic acidity. Analysis of anthracene oil using HPLC showed that it has, among other substances, 40% of PAH. The sum of bases in sorptive complex and hydrolytic acidity decreased.
