Abstract
This paper deals with the general Balance-Based Adaptive Control methodology and its application to the control of the particular class of systems: flow bioreactors. This methodology can be considered as the interesting alternative not only for the classical PI controller but also for the advanced nonlinear control algorithms, due to its generality and simplicity as well as to its adaptabiliry and very good control performance. Our B-BAC methodology allows for the very large uncertainty both on nonlinearity of a process and on the values of its parameters. In the result we obtain the final form of the B-BAControl law, which can be directly applied to the adaptive control of either perfectly mixed and distributed parameter flow bioreactors.
