Abstract
α-Methylstyrene was converted to AcPh and HCHO in the presence of N-hydroxyphthalimide, Co(II) acetylacetonate and azobis(isobutyronitrile) in ionic liqs. or supercrit. CO2 as solvents (70 or 80°C). The conversion of α-methylstyrene was higher in ionic liq. than in crit. CO2 but the selectivity to AcPh formation was higher in supercrit. CO2 than in ionic liqs.
