Abstract
The reliability of the electrical power system depends mainly on the reliability of the subsystem of power generation and the subsystem of power transmission. What decides about the reliability of the generation system is primarily the reliability of the power units forming it. The management of routine repairs has a substantial influence on the reliability of power units. The paper discusses the reliability and repair indices of national power units, and the changes in them which took place in the years 2000-2009. Relationships were analyzed between the operation time and repair expenses of power units and their reliability and availability.
