Abstract

A closed structure of the interconnected power system as well as geographical distribution of generation make that in some regions loop flows often occur. These unscheduled compensatory power flows can be reduced by using phase shifting transformers. The paper discusses selected results of research whose main objective was to determine the effect of phase angle control of phase shifting transformers installed in feeder bays of Polish 400 kV border stations on the cross-border power flows. The main parameters of phase shifters was also determined.
