Abstract

The advective equation can be used as the time-delay element in modelling and simulation. Using the method of lines the standard ordinary differential equation system is obtained and then the user can program this element himself in most simulation tools. The orthogonal collocation method (using Jacobi, Tshebysheff of first and second kind and Legendre polynomials) as the space discretization method has been applied. This method gives best results when the time-delay element in the closed-loop continuous control system being simulated with damping elements occurs.
