Abstract

The work aimed at determining the effectiveness of the treatment of the wastewater coming from the meat industry in four hybrid systems:- combining the biological methods of activated sludge (SBR reactor) and reverse osmosis.- combining the biological methods of activated sludge (aerobic bioreactor) and ultrafiltration.- combining the biological methods of activated sludge (bioreactor with separated chambers of denitrification and nitrification), ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis.- combining coagulation, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. The tests, carried out on the wastewater from the Meat Processing Plant Uni-Lang in Wrzosowa, showed that the biological treatment resulted in satisfactory removal of contaminants from the wastewater, allowing them to be discharged into receiving water. In order to make it possible for the wastewater to be reused in the production cycle, additional treatment with reverse osmosis was necessary.
