Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of the exposure of a motorcycle driver to vibration, performed under real traffic conditions and at varying speeds of a motorcycle. During the experiments under normal traffic conditions, vibration measurements were taken at the points of vibration impact on the motorcyclist's upper and lower limbs, and torso. The tests were carried out in urban traffic at lower motorcycle speeds and in extra-urban traffic at higher speeds. As results from the tests conducted in urban and extra-urban traffic, there is a significant difference in the level of exposure to vibrations at the points where the vibration affects the motorcyclist. The measurements taken in urban traffic show lower values of the recorded vibration compared to the tests carried out in extra-urban traffic. The research shows that the instantaneous velocity of the motorcycle and the rotational speed of its engine are significant factors that influence the change in vibration exposure levels of a motorcycle driver.
