Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the thermal cycle of a supercritical 900 MWe condensing power plant which meets the "CCS ready" requirements. This means that once CO2 capture installations become commercially available, they will be added to the thermal cycle. The C0 2 separation method selected for the analysis is chemical absorption using MEA as sorbent with different energy consumption. The analysis also takes into account the operation of an eight-stage geared compressor which satisfies the needs of CO2 transport. The calculations are performed for a power unit fired with hard and brown coal. The change in the power plant operation indices after its integration with a separation installation is presented as a function of the sorbent energy consumption.
