Abstract

In the studies the energy analysis of the CO2 capture installation was carried out. Its primary objective was the assessment of energy demand for the sorbent regeneration and the cooling demand of the capture installation, which is necessary to assess the cooperation conditions of the capture installation with the power unit. The chemical absorption was adopted as the technology for CO2 caprure from flue gas for power unit with supercritical parameters, with application of an amine solvent. The calculations have been supplemented by the analysis for variable load of the power unit and varying removal efficiency. During the study a commercial code, for analysis of chemical processes, Aspen Plus was used. In the initial variant of the installation, the coefficient of the heat demand for regeneration with the value of 3.49 MJ/kg CO2 has been achieved. Calculations were also made for the variant, in which the condensate from the CO2/H2O separator behind the desorber goes to the absorber and not to the desorber, as in the initial variant. It allowed for a small reduction of the heat required for regeneration. In the case of variable working conditions of the capture installation the deterioration of the installation efficiency was observed when moving away from the nominal point. The coefficient of heat demand for regeneration during the load change increase by about 0.18% per 1% of the decrease in the power unit load.
