An overview of wireless, capacitive power transfer

Research output: Contribution to journal › Article › peer-review

Abstract

The paper is a review of research in the field of capacitive power transfer technology (CPT) After a theoretical introduction, the general structure of CPT systems is discussed. At first, the types of networks matching the capacitive coupler to resonance conditions are described, starting from simple L to the most complex LCLC type. Then, selected, real CPT systems with rotary couplers and flat 4 and 6 electrodes are described. The publication includes electrical parameters and achieved efficiency of described CPT systems. In addition, the need to increase CPT operating frequency to several MHz and associated design of inverters and matching network’s passive elements is indicated in summary section.
