Abstract
A comparison of two adaptive algorithms applied for active noise control (ANC), a conventional FXLMS algorithm with an algorithm based on orthogonal filters tuned using recursive least squares method (RLS), is presented. The idea of use of orthogonal filters that reduces computational complexity of the adaptive algorithm based on the RLS is described. The algorithms were implemented using a digital signal processor, and put to the test in an ANC feed-forward system used for creation of a local zone of quiet in a 3-D enclosure. Results of real-world experiments proved faster convergence of the algorithm based on RLS while the level of obtained noise attenuation was comparable for the algorithms.
