N2 - This paper presents the author's concept of a routing algorithm for a sensor network operating in methane and/or coal dust explosion hazard zones. In such extensive networks, it is necessary to organise the transmission of information appropriately in order to ensure operational reliability, flexible configuration and operational safety. It is particularly important to ensure the operational reliability of sensor networks operating in methane and/or coal dust hazardous areas. The result of the analysis of individual routing protocols, indicate that protocols based on the so-called Swarm Intelligence (SI) have the highest probability of successful algorithm implementation in sensor networks operating in explosive environments. These algorithms are characterised by the fact that, regardless of the number of variables in the solution space, they adapt to the constraints and help solve the optimisation problem. Sensory networks working on the basis of swarm intelligence algorithms are self-organising and multiredundant. The paper also presents hardware models of network nodes and their programming environment, as well as attempts to implement routing algorithms in network node models and their analysis.
