Abstract
Experimental data are provided to examine a model describing the influence of hydrodynamic conditions on aggregation of monosized spherical particles suspended in water. The linear aggregation rate at the initial period of the growing process was correlated as a function of the average energy dissipation rate in the vessel. Measurements were performed in a laboratory mixing vessel where monosized Latex particles of 3.3 and 10.2 μm underwent aggregation in the presence of a high-molar mass cationic flocculant.
