Aerodynamic loads in dynamics of HAWT rotor

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

Blades from Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine are modelled as tapered beams. The aerodynamic, gravity and shear centers are not lying on one line. In dynamics of blade the vibrations will be the superposition of bending and torsion. Including aerodynamic damping phenomena cause blade to vibrate not clearly flipwise or edgewise. Model of blade is created in MSC Nastran software as cbeam element. Values of aerodynamic forces are calculated in Matlab, using algorithms based on Blade Element Momentum method. The dynamic solution technique used in consideration starts from real eigenvalue analysis.
