Adaptation of educational facilities for the purose of measuring innovative air conditioning and ventilation systems

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The article presents an acoustic analysis of a model research room, designed and constructed as part of the infrastructure of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. The facility was built as a lightweight steel structure filled with sandwich panels, located inside a measurement and research hall, which allowed for the elimination of environmental noise and provided optimal conditions for conducting measurements in a low acoustic background. Based on design documentation and manual measurements, a three-dimensional geometric model of the room was created using Odeon Acoustics software. Acoustic simulations were carried out based on this model, with actual material parameters assigned. To verify the model, in situ measurements were conducted using a point sound source and six receiving points. The results obtained from the computer simulations showed very high agreement with the measurement data, confirming the accuracy of reproducing real conditions in the simulation environment.
