Abstract
This paper presents the results of simulation research on the application of encoders for identification diameters of railway vehicles being in motion. The encoder measures an angle. Identification of the diameter consists in finding such theoretical diameter of the wheel for which theoretical time performance of the angle differs from the experimental as little as possible. The paper presents a range of applications of the method from the point of view of the possibility of obtaining the sensitivity of the measurements. This means that the possibility of identification is the minimum difference between theoretical and real diameter.
