Abstract

The paper presents the results of experimental and computational studies on methane autoignition process at a high-temperature of air. A special experimental stand was built to carry out investigations. The influence of the temperature of preheated air, "actual temperature" and the air excess ratio on the ignition delay time and the increment of temperature inside the reaction chamber were analyzed. Experiments for two types of conduit supplying gas were carried out. The computational studies are based on mass and energy balance equations and experimental data. The aim of the calculations was to confirm the conclusions derived from the experiment.
